What are the system requirements?
Processor: Pentium-class (incl AMD, etc)
400 MHz recommended.
Memory: 192 MB minimum; 512 MB recommended.
Hard disk: 12GB minimum, 40GB recommended.
How do I install RackStar on my system?
Simply download the ISO and burn it as an image to a CD using your favorite burning tool.
Put the CD in the server's CD drive, and reboot the server. Make sure you boot from CD.
Select the proper RAID option. The installation takes about 15 minutes, after that, you will be asked to reboot. Remove the CD from the drive and reboot the server. Watch the screen and configure your network settings using the wizard that loads when booting.
How do I install RackStar on my RAQ?
Take the drives out of the RAQ and put them in a workstation or server. Boot this workstation/server of the CD you just downloaded (see above). Select the RAID option and wait until the installation is done. Shut down the system and take out the drives. Put them back in the RAQ. Wait until "PRIMAIRY IP" appears on the LCD screen. Enter the IP address.
How are the partitions done?
All partitions use the ext3 file system:
/ - 4GB
/tmp - 2GB
/var - 4GB
swap - 2GB
/home - space left
Which Drive/RAID combinations are supported? RackStar currently supports 3 RAID modes: RAID5 (3 disks), RAID1 (2 disks), RAID0 (2 disks). And of course a single drive mode. Both SATA/SCSI as IDE drives are supported.
What is the default MySQL root password? It's "rackstar-mysql". Please change this ASAP.
Which languages are available? RackStar currently supports 8 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese and Russian
